Transparent Tiles v 1.0

A new desktop I created. this one features Time, Date, Weather, Battery, Calendar with Events, System Information, Music Controls, and even a small slideshow!

Layout:

create 9 shell geeklets and apply a background color of Black at 30%.

You may also need to send these background geeklets back (send to back option via right click on geeklet)

For the Dock do the same.

Position like so in the screenshot.

Time and Date:

open time and date geeklets and position them.

Weather:

open both weather image geeklets and also the weather information geeklets.

Put in your Weather.com URL in place of my custom one.

note: weather image 2 geeklet should be an empty shell. it helps fetch the weather image so it is mandatory

For the weather forecast geeklet simply place your Yahoo Weather Code instead of mine

System Information:

for the 2 system information geeklets simply open and position.

Battery:

for the battery open the battery geeklet and position on screen.

then open a image geeklet to show the battery image.

Calendar and Events:

for the calendar, open the geeklets and position.

note: one calendar geeklet shows the current month while the other one shows the next month.

for the Events, you will need to download icalbuddy (search on Google) then just open up the events geeklet and postion.

*note: you can edit how many events shown at one time by editing the last number after "today" (170).

Music Controls:

For the Music Controls Turntable background, download music pic and open a image geeklet and show the pic.

You will also need Bowtie minimal theme.

Finally position those things.

Slideshow

For the Slideshow, create a folder of images you want to be in the slideshow.

Then create an image geeklet and edit the path to the folder. (click folder not individual pics)

note: you can choose to randomize the slideshow images if you wish

This took some time to make (and type) so I would appreciate it if you liked this post.

thanks any feedback or questions appreciated. Feel free to comment.

hi ecma... k, i gave it a try...

your instructions - as follows

Weather:

open both weather image geeklets and also the weather information geek lets.

[ I opened both image geek lets and after a while the weather image pops up]

{ i opened the weather information geeklets and both pop up with information in a while]

Put in your Weather.com URL in place of my custom one.

[ok, now, when u say "put in your weather.com URL' .... where do i put it ? in which shell ?]

note: weather image 2 geeklet should be an empty shell. it helps fetch the weather image so it is mandatory

[ok, this i am fine]

For the weather forecast geeklet simply place your Yahoo Weather Code instead of mine

[this is where, i am a bit of goin nuts.This is your command for weather forecast WEATHER=`curl --silent -i "http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?w=2438841&u=f"`;

i am suppose to replace it with my weather code, which is https://sg.weather.yahoo.com/malaysia/kuala-lumpur/kuala-lumpur-1154781/

So now it looks like this WEATHER=`curl --silent -i "https://sg.weather.yahoo.com/malaysia/kuala-lumpur/kuala-lumpur-1154781/f"`;

When i paste the above, i get nothing. The problem is.... i dot know which part of your code i should over write... Please guide me... Thanks...
